A girl whose father sells garlands on the footpath in a chawl Mumbai.
She is only 6 years old and strings the flowers in a garland with
precision, helping her father with the daily bread and butter. In India
you will find flower sellers at all nook and corner as this is their
profession for generations. It is rather amazing and sad to see toddlers
playing with flowers whereas they should be playing with toys and books.
There is a temple a few yards away from this flower vendor where lots of
people come to offer garlands and flowers as offering to the deities.
Some look at her some ignore her some even give her a rupee or two,
which she tucks neatly in her pocket. Maybe to buy bread or cookies to
satisfy her hunger and share with her bother. There are thousands like
her on the roads in India waiting for a brighter day in their lives.
